Prakriti Foundation presented the 'Festival of Sacred Music' at Thiruvaiyaru (located near Thanjavur) for the first time in the year 2009. Eminent artists like Bombay Jayashri, Jayanthi Kumaresh and Sikkil Sisters performed at the festival. The response was overwhelming, and was received well by the public and media.

Thus, the festival is scheduled as an annual event on our calendar with the ambition to restore the pride of the Music Centre that existed in Thiruvaiyaru at the time of Saint Thyagaraja, and showcase it for the NRI's, tourists, as well as the local people.
